World Record to be Broken - Youngest to Finish Half Marathon in 50 States

The world record, for youngest individual to complete a half marathon in all 50 states, is on track to be broken this Sunday December 18th, 2016. Twelve year old, Fifty States Half Marathon Club member, Syrafina Mohammed of Miami, Florida is ready to run her 50th state this Sunday, breaking two world records. Not only will she be the youngest to finish a half marathon in all 50 states, she will also be the youngest to finish a half marathon in all 50 states in less than one year!

Syrafina started her journey of tackling the 50 States Half Marathon Challenge™ in less than one year, at the Mississippi Blues Half Marathon on January 9th, 2016. Syrafina is now set to finish her goal at the Santa Hustle Galveston Half Marathon on Sunday December 18th, 2016. Syrafina’s mom, Tami Ting, also joined the journey, completing every half marathon, in all 50 states, alongside her daughter Syrafina.

Additionally, at 12 years old, Syrafina will be the first youth under 18, and the youngest member of Fifty States Half Marathon Club to finish any challenge (of the multiple challenges offered). Syrafina plans to continue on to complete the 100 Half Marathons Challenge™, another official club challenge of Fifty States Half Marathon Club.

The time and dedication put into completing the 50 States Half Marathon Challenge™ by Syrafina and her mom Tami Ting, in less than one year, coordinating around school, job, and life itself, is absolutely amazing. The mother daughter bond completing a journey together, as such, is immeasurable, and the everlasting countless friendships from across the nation developed along the way endless.
